Week 77: Feliz Navidad Cha Cha Cha Cha Cha!

Alright where do I begin! This week was amazing! We worked really hard and saw a lot of blessings! We worked hard at getting some splits in (where one of us takes a member and visits our investigators and the others go out and tract)! We were very successful in our finding efforts as we found 8 more new investigators and set two more baptismal dates for January with a guy named Justin and we reset the date we had with Areli! Areli is getting baptized in a couple weeks and we are super excited!

Plus we had a merry merry Christmas! We had the chance to eat with the Pineda family on Christmas Eve and they stuffed us to the brim! And then on Christmas we talked to our families and it was amazing to talk to my family! I love y'all so much! It was such a great Christmas but what made it even more amazing was sharing the Christmas light with all of Gods children! We passed out so many cards and I know it made a difference here in Northside Houston!

Well I hope y'alls Christmas was as Jolly as ours! If you're not having a jolly Christmas vacation, remember the first half of Christmas! Remember Christ, and what He did for us! But not only remember Him, but follow Him and He will give us the joy! I love you all so much! Keep making memories!

Week 76: Angels We Have Heard On High

This week was one to remember! Our area struggled a bit this week as Elder Fong and Elder Pigott had food poisoning, and some sickness, mainly because the cold finally rolled into Houston! On Saturday and Sunday it was 25 degrees with a high amount of humidity, it may not sound like it's that bad, but I'm so used to the 70 and 80 degree weather that I've lived in for 2 years that I forgot how to adapt in the cold haha! But we did a lot of great work as well!

Some of the blessings that we received this week is we taught one of our investigators who's name is Joselyn, and her daughter Angeles (11 years old)! Elder Fong found them with one of the youth in our ward and we went back on Wednesday and taught her a powerful restoration lesson! About half way through, we asked her daughter a question and Joselyn said, "oh she knows all the questions, because she was baptized into your church". We were so surprised! So her daughter had just come from Honduras 3 months ago and met the missionaries over there! It was awesome! She wants to come to mutual and come to church! Joselyn also wants her family to follow God more! So we had the opportunity to set a baptismal date with her for Jan 14! So we have more baptisms coming our way!

Also I got to go on an exchange with Elder Hatch in Little Yorks area! Elder Hatch is still in Training but he is doing really well! He was teaching me Spanish words, and I was super surprised! He is truly dedicated to the language, it's pretty cool! But we had some great lessons with some less actives where the spirit really bore witness to their hearts! We also ate with the Delgado family and ate some amazing tacos! They were huge, and I had 7 of them! It was so good! We also taught some of their investigators who are planning on getting baptized. We shared the testaments video, and after we talked about the atonement of Jesus Christ. Christina, the mom, was worried about her date for baptism, but we shared Alma 7:11-12 and talked about how Jesus Christ took away all our infirmities, anxieties, and pains; and that he will always be here to succor (support) us through our trials! It was definitely a powerful moment!

On Saturday we had our Christmas party, and I got to be part of the Nativity scene, and I was the Angel! But it was really funny because they made me look like a girl! It was so funny! Literally when I went on the stage everyone burst out in laughter, I had a hard time keeping a straight face as well haha! It was great! So overall we had a lot of fun, and made some great memories!

This week was great! Every week is a new spiritual adventure, and it is absolutely incredible! I love this work, it so wonderful! Keep looking for opportunities to serve because they are literally all over the place!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Week 75: It's Getting Better Everyday!

This week was incredible! First off I want to make a couple of shout-outs! First to my brother Brett for making being baptized this week! Congratulations buddy! Also another shout-out to my sister Anamarie for turning 11 years old!  Happy birthday E!

This week was absolutely incredible! We had a couple baptisms, had interviews with President, had a couple exchanges, and went to the museum downtown! It was so much fun and I'm excited to tell you about it!

So Steven and David got baptized! It was such a blessing! I loved it so much and the spirit was really strong as we watched them make a covenant with our Heavenly Father! So cool!

We also had interviews with President Mortensen! He is so inspiring and he helped me understand my potential for the next 6 months! I'm super excited to go hard these next few months and keep working hard to see the blessings that are in our paths!

Also had the chance to go on an exchange with Elder Hatch. He came down with Elder Fong and I! And we had the chance to do a blitz in the Hermanas area, to help them find more new investigators! They had the commitment of 7 new investigators, and didn't have any, so we hit knocking doors hard! We knocked for close to 3 hours and on the last house we knocked, we got in with a family with 6 kids over the age of 8 we taught them a great lesson, and in total found 7 new investigators! It was literally the happiest moment! I know as we put our trust in the Lord, miracles come!๐Ÿ˜†

I also went on another exchange with Elder Pogroszewski! He came down here and we had a great time! We ate a dinner with the family Villegas and after we taught their son (who is really less active) what the BOM is and how it can bless his life! It was such a powerful lesson! We saw a little spark in his eyes, as he learned more, and wanted to act! He told us that his girlfriend has been having questions about the church, so we are working hard to bring him back to church, and help her get on board as well!

To close President Mortensen talked to me about all the many blessings that I am receiving every day! It got me thinking of the Hymn count your many blessings, and the importance of the words! It says: When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed, when you are discouraged thinking all is lost, count your many blessings name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the lord has done! Count your blessings name them one by one, count your blessings see what God hath done, count your blessings name them one by one, count your many blessings see what God hath done! I don't think it's a coincidence that it says, Count Your Many Blessings Name Them One By One, so many times! I know as we count our blessings and remember the good, our lives will be happy, and full of light!

Thank you all so much for everything and for all the love each of y'all give! I love you!

Week 74: It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

This week was good but it was so cold!!! It was in the 50s this week! I know, I'm so used to the hot Texas weather! Sometimes it's a struggle haha! But this week went pretty good! It all started on Monday! We had a commitment to get 9 lessons with a member, which means 9 lessons with investigators where there is a member who is in the lesson and is actively participating! The highest I have gotten in this area is 6 member presents, so we worked hard to help our investigators feel the love of our ward!

This week we got to see David and Steven a couple times to prepare for there baptism which is this Saturday ๐Ÿ˜†!! We had some powerful lessons with them on the commandments! They understand so well, and they have such a passion for learning! Steven just eats it all up! It's pretty amazing to see the hole that is being filled in their hearts! They are just about there and nothing is holding them back for this Saturday!

We also got to stop by Hugo and Areli a couple times and we shared with them the rest of the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ! You should have seen there faces when we taught them about where they are from and where they are going after this life! It was amazing!! It was even more incredible when we taught them the importance of baptism and how baptism is the key to getting into the kingdom of heaven! Wow oh wow, there faces lit up! It was incredible! They just got their marriage license and got married today!!๐Ÿ˜†

On Sunday we also had an amazing day! We went out on splits with some youth and we needed 5 more member presents to get our goal! Elder Fong took a 17 year old priest and they rocked it! They found 4 new investigators and had a couple lessons! Then we had a lesson with someone named Elizabeth who is starting to change her life around, and she wants to follow God she is so prepared! It is absolutely amazing all the people that are prepared down here in the city of Houston! The goal for us missionaries is to keep pushing and finding those who are ready for the gospel! We just short our goal by 1 but it was amazing pushing for that goal!

For a little spiritual thought, I was reading in 2 Nephi 10 this morning, and it said something really bold, it said: 23 "Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves--to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life." I know that all of us are free to choose good! We just need to lift up our heads and go for it! I know we can all receive eternal life and I am grateful for the chance to help other people choose it! I love this work! It's amazing! I hope y'all can have a lot of cheer in your hearts especially during this Christmas season!
I love you all so much!

Week 73: Memories!

Houston 3 is definitely the best area ever!

Good morning family and friends! This week was amazing! We were stuffed with food and the spirit! It was amazing! So first things first, we are back into a trio! Elder Fong came back to H3, and my new companion is Elder Pigott, he is originally from Columbia, but moved to Hawaii when he was 8, so he is a Hawaiian Hispanic! It's been great! We have been rocking it! Elder Pigott only has a couple transfers left in his mission so we've been making every second count! So this week we definitely had some great highlights, and I'm excited to tell y'all all the memories we made!

↑ Photo 1: I had to say goodbye to an amazing sister, Sister Soto. She's the one that Kyle Whimpey baptized in California! So we snagged a photo of the Woodlands crew before she left!

↑ Photo 2: On Thursday we did the turkey bowl and we woke up at 5:30 in the morning to go play! Here is Elder Pigott and I right out of bed!

↑ Photo 3: After the turkey bowl we took a picture with everyone! I was so tired afterwards, but it was a lot of fun!

↕ Photo 4 And 5: Go together! We ate thanksgiving at the Flores house first, and they had an amazing back yard! This was a bunch of bananas from their banana tree! And then this was the family! Then we went and had two more meals that night, so we were stuffed.

↑ Photo 6: This is the new district! For District Meeting I centered the message on the new Christmas video and we talked about how we can light the world! We talked a lot about how we can share this video with people, and it was a really inspiring meeting! I invite y'all to watch it! In Spanish it's called ilumina el mundo! And I'm so excited to go out and light the world! (

Photo 7: Houston 3, is definitely the best area ever! (photo at top)

↑ Photo 8: This is at the Robles house! He is our ward mission leader, and his nephews are becoming interested in the gospel! Their names are Steven and David! Steven is 14 and David is 9! They have both expressed their desires to be baptized and we set two dates with them on December 10th! That's now 4 baptisms that we are going  to be having in December! It's going to be absolutely incredible! It is definitely going to be a white Christmas!

↑ Photo 9: Yesterday we had a charla fogenero (fireside). It was for the youth in our ward, and it was super powerful! Our mission leader set it up and the goal for the charla was to inspire the youth to go on a mission! So all the missionaries in our ward shared their experiences in preparing for a mission! The spirit was powerful, as each missionary shared how they were able to make the decision to serve!

Oh how grateful I am to serve a mission! There is no greater joy than helping people in their lives come closer to their Savior! I also invite y'all to work hard on giving yourselves to our Heavenly Father, and going out and serving your fellowmen! I love this work! The church of Jesus Christ is true! I know our Savior atoned for our sins because of the infinite love that He has for every single one of us (2 Nephi 26:23-24)! I love you all! Make it a great week!

Week 72: I'm stealing my Companions Weekly Email ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I had a baptism in Sealy! It was incredible! Maria got baptized and it was amazing!

I didn't have enough time to write a weekly so I snagged Elder Fitt's email, so this is our week in his words! Haha! Also transfers are here and I'm staying and Elder Fitt is out! I find out who my new comp is tonight! It's going to be amazing, but sad! So here it is!

"Monday: We had a typical P-day. Then afterward we had FHE and had three of our investigators show up. The two baptismal dates that we have are looking very good for the 17 of December.

Tuesday: Today we had Zone Conference and it was so amazing!! We talked about why we have the commandments and how they are just our direction to return safely back to our Heavenly Father. Then we had all of our lessons fall through that night and so we just went out knocking until the end of the night.

Wednesday: We woke up early and hit the road to a service project. The project was called "Project smiles". We helped 2nd graders learn about how to floss and brush their teeth. So that took up all the morning and most of the afternoon. Then after the service project, we decided to go on an "emergency exchange". So I went to H5 for the rest of the day. We had 2 lessons with the people they have on date right now and they were just super powerful and awesome. Then to end the night, we went to a families house and taught them Matthew 14 and talked about the storms in our lives. It was the most powerful lesson I have ever taught in my entire mission! When we read in the scriptures about a burning sensation in our chest when we feel the spirit, That was exactly what I felt. The Spirit was able to use me to say what he needed to say and then after I was done speaking, the power and the warmth in which I had felt went away. I know that it was the Spirit that was in that lesson and that it was able to use me to speak on his behalf.

Thursday: Well back to project smiles! :D

Friday: We had an amazing district meeting and I was able to give the spiritual thought. Then afterward, we went finding for hours. We found two new investigators that are so awesome. One of them was just outside hanging up her Christmas decorations and one thing led to another and we were outside teaching the Restoration. Then we had this huge ward party for Thanksgiving!

Saturday: Road Trip!! We went to the English wards party for lunch! Then we went and did some finding. Then after that we went to a baptism in Sealy. So that was a good hour drive. So while Elder Heiner drove, I took the LDS tools out and invited everyone in our ward to church.

Sunday: Church was just super good! Then after church we went over to the Robles house for dinner with their family and then afterward they let us use their house to teach one of our investigators. Then we had transfer calls. Looks like I am the only one out from the District. So farewell to H3..."

Back to me again! Here are some pictures from this last week!

Week 71: 7 Months Of Consecration

Mission Presidents Fireside!

Wow what another inspiring week! We have truly been blessed here in Houston! I absolutely loved this week and felt the love of my Heavenly Father! I feel that I have been changing into the person my Heavenly Father needs me to be! This week I really focused on being a more consecrated missionary, based from the talk Consecrated Missionary by Tad R Callister (great talk, if you haven't read it. I invite y'all to look at it)! I know I only have 7 months left, so I made a plan to do 7 Months to consecration! I have already felt so much change and love! Ahhh, I just love the mission so much!!!

So with this week we had a lot of random amazing things happen! Some of
these amazing things were an amazing service! The temple! Spanish Leadership Council! And a mission presidents fireside! Plus we set two
baptismal dates with the two most prepared people in Houston! So where do I begin!

I'll start here on last Monday! We received a couple referrals from one of my favorite families in the mission, the Castillos! Their friend’s names are Hugo and Areli and they are amazing! Apparently I taught Hugo once when I was here a year ago, but back then he definitely wasn't as ready for the gospel to change his life! So we taught an amazing restoration lesson with them, like literally spiritually mind blowing! They understood so well, and when we introduced the BOM they just lit up even more! When we extended the date, Hermana Castillo told us that they can't be baptized because they’re not married, but then Areli says, "Don’t worry I already got the ring". Hugo and Areli just got engaged, and we are planning on having their baptism and wedding on the same day, December 17th!! Plus yesterday they went to church and had read 6 chapters in the BOM! They are on fire! Plus there are so many members reaching out and helping them out! The Lord is truly blessing!

On Tuesday we had an amazing service opportunity where we got to help out kids who were in 2nd grade learn more about the dentist and prepare to get their teeth checked! A lot of the missionaries got to teach but my job was to pump all the kids up before they got their teeth checked! It was soooo fun! I saw one of the kids crying as he got his teeth checked, and I was like oh no, that's not happening again! So I helped them understand that that field trip is the best field trip ever! None of them were afraid after they got done talking to me! It was awesome! Kids are great and so funny and random! We got on the most random stories haha! Like, we went from talking about Halloween and then how one kid has the cutest dog in the world haha! I just laughed so hard!

Then on Thursday we got to go to the temple as a district! I just love the temple sooo soooo much! Such a spiritually uplifting experience! It really humbled me literally! I was in the celestial room and I just pulled open the scriptures and I opened up to Alma 5:27! Slap to the face! I guess I need to work harder on being more humble! Humility really does bring blessings! But the temple was truly an amazing experience!

Then on Friday we had Spanish Leadership Council! That's a meeting where all the leaders in Spanish get together to learn how to better the obra misional! It was a great meeting and I learned a lot! Also in District Meeting I centered my topic on the atonement! Whoa it was amazing! Such a spiritual meeting! The atonement is my favorite topic and is just oh so powerful! It was such a powerful one, the spirit really took over!

We've had plenty of amazing moments! Then on Sunday we had an amazing mission president’s fireside! That's a one in a 4 month experience it was so powerful! Well this week was incredible! Make sure y'all have
a great one as well! Remember our savior and all he did for us! Love y'all!

Week 70: The Power Of Prayer!

Back: Elder Stulce, Front L-R: Elder Fitt, Elder Heiner, Elder Fong

Hey y'all this week was all about sifting, finding, and listing to the promptings of the spirit! We had so many people that we invited to come closer to Jesus Christ from last week, so we worked hard to find which ones would follow the savior's command of repenting and being baptized. We found that many of them had a hard time acting, based on their living conditions. So we helped many of them understand the importance of the restored gospel, and gave them the chance to talk to missionaries when they are ready to act! So that meant that this week we worked extremely hard at finding those willing to act, and it all started on Monday (Halloween)!

We had to start off on a good note on Monday! Last Monday, since it was Halloween we had to be back in our apartments by 7 pm, so we had a solid 1 hour to go contacting and find those prepared! We prayerfully searched for those who were ready and at 6:55 pm we found our man! We just asked Heavenly Father to lead us to someone we could invite to come unto Jesus Christ and the last door we went up to they invited us to come back! So we were feeling pumped and ready to do work from the start!

Heavenly Father continued to bless us this week as he put people into our paths! On Tuesday we were in an area that we thought didn't have very many Hispanics, but we specifically prayed to lead us to the place we needed to go! The first guy we talked to wasn't very interested, but gave us the direction of where to go, we then followed that direction and found a community of Hispanics! And many of them let us come back!

On Friday we had such an inspiring day! We had Zone Meeting, and we were taught all about unity and diligence! Each companionship has the goal to baptize 2 people by the end of this year and we all strapped on the seat belts and committed ourselves to accomplishing that goal! We are doing whatever it takes to accomplish it! We also were taught how to better apply the Book of Mormon and the stories to our investigators! It was inspiring and I know we all were left very edified! Later that day, we had a couple lessons fall through, and we were scrambling to know what to do. I then received a prompting to call a potential investigator we found earlier in the week, and visit her! She answered and said "that would be alright!" So we went down to her house and gave an amazing Restoration lesson with her! She had so many questions, and loved knowing that the priesthood power is again on the earth! She is so solid and we have high hopes for her in the future!

Sunday was a great way to end the week! We had a few investigators come to church, and they loved it! After church we also had an amazing lesson with one of our investigators in the home of our Ward Mission Leader! His family, fed our investigator and us dinner, and then we gave a powerful Plan of Salvation lesson! We invited her to be baptized and she said she needed to pray about it first! But don't worry, prayer is powerful and she will baptized before you know it! We also went on splits last night, and Elder Fong and one of our priests in our ward, went knocking and found a guy named Israel, and taught the whole restoration, and set a baptismal date with him for Dec 17!!! Pretty incredible! Elder Fitt and I had a couple lessons fall through so we went contacting! It was a little bit too late to go to people's houses, so we did my favorite type of contacting, talking to people in the parking lot at the store Fiesta! We talked to some interesting people, but one of the guys we talked to was from Mexico and he told us that a few of his friends were Mormon and he's always wanted to learn more about our religion! So we are going back to see him this week! I'm so excited!!

So it was another successful week, all because we prayed and listened to the spirit to lead and guide us! It was incredible as we put our shoulder to the wheel and worked together! I love this work! It truly is amazing! I also love my Savior Jesus Christ! I got to study a lot on the atonement this week in my personal studies, and it truly is incredible the love and compassion that our savior showed to the world, but mainly to you and to me! I love Him so much! I'm glad I get the chance to do this work with Him! I love you all! I hope y'all have a fantastic day week!

Week 69: This week = Blessed

All of us right outside the temple doors! Fransisco is in between Elder Fitt & Elder Fong!

Wow! That's all I can say is wow! This week was so good! We were oh so blessed! I don't think I have had a more successful week in my whole mission than this past week, and it's all because we were exactly obedient! We found some of the smallest things that we could work on, like dropping some of the slang in English and Spanish, and following the white handbook 100%; and then watched miracles come! I wish I could tell y'all how amazing the week was in one email, but I'll try my best!

So Monday was absolutely great we had a couple lessons and taught this girl named Eliana! She is about our age, and doesn't know too much about God so we did a lot of explaining which was really powerful! After we shared the first vision with her, she asked, " wow do you really believe that's true"? As we bore testimony of the truth and bore witness that it's by and though the Book of Mormon that we can know the truthfulness of the restoration of the gospel her eyes lit up๐Ÿ˜ณ! She told us that she would read and find out it's true๐Ÿ˜†! What a powerful way to start out the week!

Then we had Tuesday come around the corner!! First we got to have interviews with President Mortensen! He is such an inspired man! He shared with me the story of the Brother of Jared in the BOM! He talked about how whenever there is a story about someone traveling on or through the water, it always is applied to life! In the story of the Brother of Jared, the only way they were able to get to the promise land was by the winds that carried the barges! This family went through storms and were engulfed about in the sea, but because they put ALL their faith in the Lord, were HOPEFUL and were EXACTLY obedient, they made it to the promise land! It was ONLY through the winds and the waves that they could get to the promise land! Remember whatever you are going through that as you put your faith in the savior and are obedient he will deliver you through your struggles! I love our Mission President! So inspired! Then after interviews we went finding, and we found a whole family! We found them in one of the poorest areas in our mission! It's like being in a 3rd world country! We shared a very powerful message of hope, through the Restoration, with them! The mom wants to see a change in her life and her family’s lives so she committed to reading the BOM! It's moments like those where time is so treasured! I love the gospel y'all! This work changes people's lives!

Wednesday humbled us, with almost all of our lessons falling through! So we prayed where to go while looking and searching on a map, and then Elder Fitt and I were inspired and picked the same place to knock! So we were like, ok let's go! 2nd door we knocked, we found a family of 3๐Ÿ˜†!!! They were cooking outside and we went and stood with them and taught the whole restoration! They all accepted a baptismal invitation! It was amazing! Then we went back out on the street and there was a guy getting on his bike and we asked him if there were any Hispanics in this area, and then he said yeah and pointed out every Hispanics house haha! So we knocked them and had a couple return appointments after! Straight blessings๐Ÿ”†!

Thursday was a great day as well! But I'll skip to Friday! We had the opportunity to go to the temple with one of Elder Fitt's recent converts to do baptisms for the dead! It's a huge blessing having a temple only 40 minutes away! I know there are so many people who have to take a whole day to get to the temple! But the spirit was so strong, and as Fransisco did the baptisms for his Grandpa, the spirit became even stronger! He loved it and we could tell it was a powerful moment!

Saturday I had the opportunity to go up to H6 and do an exchange with one of my best friends Elder Pogroszewski! We had a lot of fun, and worked really hard! We both came out together and started in the areas we both are in right now! So it was great talking about ol times! We taught a powerful lesson with this one woman who would not believe the apostasy! We shared a scripture in Matthew and she switched topics, then we hammered the BOM, and she got quieter! She actually said she would read, which was really powerful! So we will see where that goes! The BOM is so amazing, and changes lives!

Sunday was a great way to finish the week! We had one of our main investigators named Blanca come to church! She loved it! She is absolutely incredible too! On the train ride to church she was sitting by someone and asked them if they would like to go to church or English class with her! Man, she's already doing missionary work and she's not even a member! I love her haha! Also we had a great lesson with a part member family and we taught like 5 kids The Plan of Salvation! It was awesome teaching it so simple, and helping the kids understand! It was powerful!

Well y'all! That's all I got! This week was so amazing, and I feel so blessed the Lord can trust two 19 year olds and one 21 year old, missionaries to do his work! Remember the Lord will always bless, but first we must act! I love acting! The blessings are incredible after! Thanks for all the support and love y'all give! Have an amazing week!

Love Elder Heiner

Week 68: The Trio Has Begun!

Great news it's Monday and you know what that means? Yep, another week to serve the Lord! I'm so excited! But you want more good news? Ok, we  are going to be rocking it down in H-town with Elder Fong! Elder Fong was serving in the Chicago mission, but had to come home for a few weeks, but instead of him going home, he is going to be serving with Elder Fitt and I!!! We have the funnest trio ever! We've done work! I'm pumped to tell y'all about how this week went!

Tuesday: We had the chance to help out at a food bank in the morning for a few hours and we gave some people who are not so fortunate some food, to help them live a normal life! I loved seeing the smiles of the people as they received their only support of food! We also had a very powerful lesson on the Why of Church with one of our Less Active members. He has started coming back to church, but was completely active when I was here a year ago, so I'm not letting him slip through the cracks!

Let's jump down to Friday! We had a district meeting and we talked and hammered on the importance of the Book of Mormon! For about the last month we have been making the Book of Mormon a huge focus in everything that we do, and everything we share! We need to liken the BOM to ourselves and our investigators (or bridge the gap between understanding and living the gospel) the BOM is the only way to gain a testimony of the truth of the gospel! As we have bore testimony of the BOM, and have helped them understand it for themselves, we have seen more blessings come than at any other time in my whole mission! It's awesome! We then received a training from the APs on how to be more effective planners! They talked about before you do anything, you
should always start with a vision! That is with anything that we do! I learned how to better plan my weeks, months, transfers, and my life! But the biggest and most important thing to remember is to always start with a vision! And then go out and accomplish it with goals, plans, and action! I loved the insights๐Ÿ˜Š!

Ok Saturday! Let's start with a miracle! So Saturday morning we had a English Class Training up at the stake center, but I have already been to one of those meetings, so we decided to get splits set up! So I went out on splits with Larry, a return missionary of about a year! We had a couple lessons set up, but they both canceled! But as we were getting back into our car, a man pulls up to the curb in his truck right behind us! So we contacted him, and then went and had an amazing Restoration lesson with him! He said that he had been praying for "messengers" to stop by! He is solid! Later that night we picked up Elder Fong and had a great rest of the day!

Sunday was great! I had the opportunity to go out finding with Elder Jones and his trainee Elder Hatch and we gave 4 Book of Mormons in like 30 minutes! It was amazing! We saw some miracles yesterday! Sadly our family of four that we had last week didn't go to church, but Elder Fitt and Elder Fong taught them and had a great lesson on the BOM! So there is still hope for that family!

But I'm just so glad and happy I have the opportunity to serve the
Lord! There are so many miracles that come into our lives as we trust
in the Lord and do his work! I love you all so much! Have a great week!

Week 67: Take Me Back to the Paradise City!!!

This week was absolutely fantastic! So I got good news and I got good news! The first good news is that President has called me back to Houston!! I'm talking baby area, H3, right outside of downtown Houston!!! The next good news is that I'm going to be rocking it down here with Elder Fitt my MTC companion! I'm so excited! This week we seriously worked hard and saw so many bendiciones! (blessings!) Where do I begin?!

So throughout the whole week we saw so many miracles, and it was amazing seeing some of the old families and friends! But the miracles all began to start raining down on the weekend, especially on Sunday! So on Sunday we had an outstanding 5 people at church! It was incredible! It's pretty crazy because we only have like 6 investigators! Bendiciones! (blessings!) This week we also had a goal of hitting 5 new investigators in our finding efforts, and we had one day left to get it! Sunday is the day for the work of the Lord and we saw blessings! We knocked literally all day! But get this, we were knocking on this street for a good 2 hours and saw no success, until literally, I kid you not, the last house on the street opened up, and let us in. They had a family of 4 ๐Ÿ˜‚.  We taught them the whole restoration and they all loved it! Elder Fitt and I were in awe. We couldn't even believe it! Then the rest of the night we found soooo many potentials, it was absolutely nuts! I absolutely love it here! Sealy prepared me so much for this place! It's so good to be back! This city is straight paradise.

I love this work! It is absolutely incredible! Remember to always put your faith in Christ through any difficulty! Because he will lead and guide! Thanks for all the prayers yall! Make it a fantastic week!

Week 66: ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ„El fin de Sealy๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ– (The End Of Sealy)

(The Garcia's are one of my favorite families!)

Hello again! Just to let y'all know, that this week was awesome! But to start off, we got transfer info and I am out of Sealy! It was an amazing 3 months. I got the chance to watch this area turn a 180! When I got here the members didn't really like the missionaries, the work was going no where, and the area was nick named: outer darkness! But after 3 months of working our tails off, and having a "It's time to ball out" and a "let's get pumped" mindset, we turned this place around to now be the promised land!! Also yesterday we had the chance to talk to our branch president, and he told us that, you know both of you were sent here for a reason because there were people who only y'all could help come back! And it is so true, because all of us (no matter if we are a full time missionary or not) are at a certain place to bless at least one of Heavenly Father's children! It's also amazing because as we put in our part, and give our all to the work of the Lord, not only will we be blessed but so many other people will be blessed! I just love the work of the Lord! It's so amazing๐Ÿ˜Š!!

So let's kick off the week with last Monday! We had the chance to teach Maria! They all read in the Book of Mormon, so we got the opportunity to teach them the Plan of Salvation! It was a super powerful lesson! She usually doesn't understand that much when we teach, because she has short term memory loss, but she actually understood a lot! We were planning on setting a date with her this past week, but she had a family emergency to go to in Mexico, so the Elders will set the date in a couple of weeks๐Ÿ˜€!

Then Tuesday comes around the corner, and Tuesday and Wednesday are the two days we go harder than ever! We always have 4-5 hours of knocking planned out and we go hard! On Tuesday we found a lot of really open people! One of the people that we met was from the Philippines but she happened to live in Utah. She said that she loved the church there, and was about to get baptized but then moved to Texas . She said that when they moved, their daughter began to change and hung out with the wrong crowd, and then there was a downhill slope in their family! So we are planning to teach them this week, and see where it takes us! She could be a huge blessing! Later that night we went and visited the Rodriguez family (the miracle family from last week). When we got there they hadn't read in the Book of Mormon, but Jarrod had been watching bible videos and other videos about Christ for like 3 days straight after our first visit with him! He told us, "I'm sorry I didn't read the BOM, I just don't know anything, so I want to get a little bit more information on Jesus Christ before I read the Book" haha!! His wife was telling us that he should be a youth pastor haha! Don't worry by the time we are done with him he will be a young men's leader ☺️! So we read with them in the BOM, and helped answer a lot of questions! They weren't able to go to church, because of work, but we are still in the beginning stages with them, and I can see them having a baptismal date in the near future!

On Friday we had Zone Meeting and learned a lot of our vision as a zone and what we are going to do to accomplish our goals! It was really good and it helped us understand what we need to do to see more and more success in our zone!
(The Katy Zone!)

(Elders of Katy Zone! We all wore animal ties!)

Then let's jump on down to Sunday, church was amazing! We got the chance to teach the teenagers Sunday school class, and we had like 5 minutes to make something up! But we have a cool tool called "the spirit"!! I love the spirit๐Ÿ˜ƒ!! We watched a talk called: It's never too early, It's never to late; by Bradley D Foster in the October 2015 General Conference! It talked a lot about how parents can better teach their children, but we related it to how we as members of the church of Jesus Christ can better teach our friends! Everyone was on-board and is excited to bring a friend to the next mutual activity! Salvation can be gained by one invitation! So are we going to be the ones to invite? It was cool to see the unity of that class! They are going to bless so many of their friends lives!

Well that is it y'all! I just want to let y'all know that the greatest
missionaries/members are those who put their trust in the Lord and choose the harder right, rather than the easier wrong! Keep choosing the right and the Lord will bless! I love you all! Make it a great week!

Love, Elder Heiner

Week 65: ๐Ÿ”†๐Ÿ’ฅNombre, Hay Milagros en Sealy!!!๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ”† (Miracles Happen in Sealy)

So on Thursday Elder Child and I wanted to put this new way of finding to the test! We were out contacting in Columbus, and we both felt impressed to go down this road. I didn't think we were going to find anything on this road, because I had gone down it many times looking for places to knock, but nothing seemed good! But this time when we went down this road, we both saw a trailer park that was not too far off the main road, THAT WE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE! So we started to knock it! Our 3rd door a man (named Jarrod) opens up, and Elder Child put the idea to the test and asked him, hey can we share this message with you RIGHT NOW! The guy then said, oh sure let me go put a shirt on first! We were like, NO WAY๐Ÿ˜ฏ! He comes back and we got into a great discussion! He has been looking for the gospel all his life, but can't find the right church! He told us that his wife helps understand the gospel, but it just doesn't seem right to him! When we finished, we set something up for Saturday!

So Saturday comes around and first conference was amazing! But then we had one of the best lessons I have ever had! When we got there Jarrod's whole family was just waiting for us to come in! As we sat down Jarrod tells us that his family had a miracle right after he got done talking to us. He has been looking for a job, and he said he got a phone call for a job opportunity right out of the blue, literally right after he talked to us! #MILAGROS! (Miracles) So the family (which consists of a mom and a dad, a 15 year old daughter, 12 year old son, and an 8 year old daughter) already loves us it felt like, and we started teaching the Restoration and hey just devoured it! They understood it so well! They are Golden๐Ÿ‘! At the end of the lesson Jarrod said, you know if the Book of Mormon is true, I'm moving to Utah, haha๐Ÿ˜†! All 5 of them were so solid, and want to learn more!

Then there was conference! I loved conference, and it taught me so much about what I need to do to be a better person, brother, son, friend, and missionary! Here are some of my favorite quotes: Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, God offered us the opportunity to be here and we chose it. So what shall we give in return for so much!! Dean M Davies said, if we fail to worship our God we will be missing a lot of the joy we could be receiving!

Pretty incredible! I loved conference and hope y'all loved it as well! Thanks for all the prayers y'all! Thank you for all y'all are doing to help people find more happiness! Keep it up! Find those miracles and keep trusting, believing and working with our savior! I love y'all so much! Have a great week!

Love, Elder Heiner

Hello family and friends! I hope y'alls week was just dandy, I'm super excited to tell y'all all of the happenings of this past week! This week was pretty golden and random! Dejame a explicar (let me explain) ๐Ÿ˜ƒ!

So throughout the week we went finding a ton! Our teaching pool is super low right now so we having been working hard to bump it back up! We didn't have to much success, but we had little tender mercies every day! On Tuesday we had a few hours to go contacting in the middle of the day. During the day you always find some crazy people especially because we were in Eagle Lake (a little town in our area)! We talked to a prison guard who sprayed me with his hose (it was a great refresher from the heat), we talked to an Atheist who ripped up my tarjeta of Jesus Christ and threw it my face, and then we talked to the funniest 80 year old lady who was cracking jokes with us! She asked me what my name was, and I responded and said, Elder Heiner, she then asked again, and I repeated my name, and she said, oh tan feo (oh so ugly)!! Haha๐Ÿ˜‚! She asked Elder Child his name and he told her and she said, Oh tan feo tambien, (so ugly too) haha! It was the funniest thing, and we both could not stop laughing! The best part was that she was doing a word search on her front porch and waved us over to help her find a word haha! I ended up doing like half the word search as we talked to her! Good times, good times! We also found this super solid guy named Fernando who we are excited to start teaching! He is living here with his brother from Mexico and he seemed super interested when we talked to him!

Then on Wednesday we did the same amount of finding at the same time of the day but in a different town! But we still had our adventures! One adventure we had was we were talking to this lady and she just wasn't having it with us, so I changed the subject, and she had little peppers that are called pepitos sitting in a cup on one of her outdoor tables, and she saw me looking at it and she said oh those are soooo spicy. I was like do you think I could eat one, she's like no! So I picked one up and put it in my mouth and ate it! It was like the size of a pea and right when I bit down, the spice just flew out! Santa Vaca it was hot! My whole tongue was just numb, but I played it off like it didn't do anything to me! Right then she started to open up more about the gospel! Even though she didn't go anywhere at least we planted a spicy seed๐Ÿ˜Š! We also talked to this guy who tatted up from head to toe, and we asked him what he believed in and he said, oh la Santa Muerte (holy death). I was like, oh great! But Elder Child kept his cool and he said, what made you start believing in that, he said oh I'm just kidding with you guys, I'm Christian but I don't think God has a church for me! We got talking and he seemed super interested! He told us that everyone always judges him when they see him! We told him that the Lord would never judge him and we invited him to church! He said, you know what, don't be surprised when you see me there. So another seed planted, and fixing to be growing soon!

The rest of the week I probably saw the most appointments fall through in my whole mission, it was a big trial of our faith but we worked hard, despite the trials! Then on Sunday we had 3 investigators come to church! One of them, named Maria, loved church! We had a lesson with her after church and we invited her to pray to know that the BOM is true, but instead when she prayed she said, "Heavenly Father I'm grateful for knowing that the BOM is true". That prayer was straight power! The spirit was so strong, and she had a huge smile on her face! So incredible!

Also this week as a district we set 4 baptismal dates, and had 16 people come to church, in our district of 6 missionaries! The miracle texts were going off. Everyone is so pumped and the Lord is truly blessing the Sealy District! I'm so glad I get the chance to work with so many amazing missionaries, and amazing members! The branch is growing, and the spirit is booming! More and more people are coming into the waters of baptism right in front of our eyes! There is no better time to fulfill the work of the Lord than right now! Remember, we are the Angels spreading the gospel (Alma 13:24), and we will shine the light through the darkness, and lift those who need it most! I love this work! It is amazing! I love Texas! I love watching the spirit guide 19 and 20 year old young men and women to help people understand the complexity of the gospel! The gospel, in every way, is true!

I hope y'all have a great week!

Week 63: YEAH... FECHAS!! :)

Some of my best friends at Zone Meeting.

This week was really great! There were a lot of things that went down that were just amazing, let me tell y'all about it!

So on Tuesday we had MLC (Missionary Leadership Council)! It was such a powerful meeting! Usually it's a meeting that is just for the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders, but this time the District Leaders were invited. We talked a lot about finding and really having that true desire. President Chapel (one of our counselors in our mission presidency) shared with us some things that really stuck out to me, he said: "Imagine this: there is a man who you know who is very wealthy, but also is someone who is very honest and trustworthy. Imagine this man comes into this meeting and he looks at you and he tells you, if you accomplish every commitment that is extended to you, I will give you 100,000 dollars." He talked about how we need to always have this mindset, because we are not only receiving 100,000 dollars but instead we will receive all the father has! Because it is so true! We need to always be fighting for the commitments and covenants that we have been given from the Lord! So cool!

Zone Meeting Picture: Bound to the Commitments we make

On Wednesday we had a bomb lesson with the Castillos. But first when we went into their home they were pulling out a cake and presents and we then realized that it was their son Alanee's birthday. We were like oh dang it, we totally forgot๐Ÿ˜ฌ! We had our ward mission leader there and we were planning to have this outstanding lesson, but we thought we would have to share it another time! So we talked for a while and had some cake, but then everyone had to go! I was like wow, we might get to share something with them! We then just start talking about the church and how much they loved it! Then baptism started to come into the conversation, and then the spirit just took the lesson! Holy moly it was cool! I didn't really know what I was saying! By the end of the lesson we set 3 dates with the mom and the dad and the son named Alex! It was insane! At the end of the lesson the mom said that she had never heard some of the things that were shared that day! It was just incredible! They will be getting baptized October 16! We are so excited!๐Ÿ˜‚

This week we have been really trying to involve the branch in everything that we do! It was so cool because members kept saying, hey go visit this person, and this person, and this person! Many of them were less active but it was so cool because 3 of the families that were less active came to church! The Lord is really starting to bless Sealy! I absolutely love the work that is happening!

Well another amazing week is in the books! Things are going absolutely wonderful! Just always remember that Heavenly Father is always waiting to answer our prayers and fulfill our dreams, but he can't . . . Until we pray and until we dream! Remember to always reach out to him! He loves us and will bless us every time!

I love you all! Make it a super splendid week๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘!
Love Elder Heiner
