Week 52: Mas y Mas Milagros (more and more miracles)

This week we had a lot of milagros (miracles)! There were a ton of blessings that came in, and I'm super excited to tell y'all about them!

On Tuesday the Zone Leaders wanted to do a little meeting to discuss the plans that each one of us has as areas. So we had a meeting with everyone for a couple hours. I was a really inspiring meeting and we talked a lot about the vision of the zone and how we are going to accomplish our goals. We now are all on the same page and super excited for these upcoming weeks! Another thing that we did, is one of the STL's Hna McCurdy had the idea for all of us to write down every bad thing that we have ever heard about our areas, or district or zone, and put them on a little piece of paper. After every one was done, we went outside and Elder Atkinson dug a hole in the ground and we all put our negative papers in the hole, and covered it up. We committed as a zone to never again dig up those thoughts. We are as the Anti-Nephi-Lehis as we buried our weapons that would only bring sadness! So overall it was very inspiring, and a great overall meeting! Later that night I gave 3 more baptismal interviews. They were so amazing. There were 3 of them in total. A mom and her two sons! They were so ready. It was pretty crazy how ready they were. Patricia is the mom and while she was bearing her testimony, I could tell, how much she loved this gospel. That was the same with her two sons. It was fantastic!!! It was a great way to end the night!!!

Each day up until Sunday, we worked extremely hard. We had so many solid lessons and it was amazing!!! We pushed the focus of getting people to church so hard!!! We also had a Ward Conference yesterday which brought a lot of the Stake Leaders to our ward, and all the members showed up in our ward! It was incredible! There were so many people there, it was hard to find a seat! We also had 4 investigators come to church. That's the most amount I have had in The Woodlands. We had Irma and Yaderi Deras come to church along with a new family from nuestras clases de ingles, named Hugo and Caty Herrera. Irma and Yaderi loved church. Yaderi has 17 years and she seems like she has the most interest. We are excited to keep working with them, and the blessings they will receive!!! We also taught a very special less active lesson. This member has been through a ton. We really helped this person feel that it's possible to overcome hard things. The spirit was really strong in that lesson, and I know that the Lord brought Elder Barrus and I into this area to help this member. I felt the spirit so strong, and a love that I haven't felt in a long time for an investigator or less active.

What a blessing, that we all have the atonement of Jesus Christ. I love my savior, he has blessed my life and he continues to bless others. I love this work and I am seeing the blessings!

Have a fantastic day everyone!!

Week 51: Hey Guess What? Yep, You're Right, It Was Fathers Day!

First off all I want to say is happy fathers day to all the wonderful fathers. Dad I hope you had a wonderful day. Yesterday the primary kids and the missionaries got to sing for all their fathers up on the stand in the front. It was fun and really cute to watch all the kids sing to their fathers. I'm grateful for the friendship and the love I receive from my earthly father and also my Heavenly Father. I have been so blessed to have a father in Heaven who is always watching over me, but also to have an Earthly Father, who I can go to and learn from his past experiences. What blessings Fathers are in each one of our lives. Thanks dad for everything!!

This week was a lot different than most weeks. I actually had meetings to go to. It was a great experience. I got to go to New Leadership Meeting, where all the new district leaders and zone leaders go to learn how to better their abilities, and learn what is expected of them. I learned a lot, and I am grateful for the thoughts that were shared. I'm also grateful for the chance to lead the best district in the mission to success. We do have a great district, we are full of hardworking missionaries, who put our trust in our Heavenly Father. It's pretty incredible! We are so united in purpose and we all understand what our vision is. I love our district!!!

We also had a Spanish Leadership Council, where all the leaders in the Spanish Program gather together and discuss on what needs to change and how we can accomplish the work more as a team. It was a great meeting. There were a lot of great ideas that were put out on how to better the Work. Over the time of a year of my mission there are so many things that we as missionaries do differently, whether it is how we teach, or how we have district meeting, or how we follow up with missionaries or investigators; and it is so cool to see the Lord help his friends/servants do his work!!!

On Friday I had the chance to give my first baptismal interview. It was a really cool experience. Her name was Marisol, and she was really prepared. She had been taught by missionaries for a little while, and she had been through a lot but she told me that the moment when she knew that she needed to be baptized was when she had a tree fall on her house and the members of the ward cared about her and helped her out. Pretty cool experience. She has a lot of faith, and is so excited to follow the savior, enter into a covenant and receive a remission of her sins.

Yesterday we also had an amazing miracle. This past week we have been praying for a family who are prepared for the Gospel in their lives. We went out with a member to go visit some less actives and when we were done we were getting back into our car, and there was a family that was bringing a bunch of stuff from their car, and our member said, lets go help them. Usually when we ask people for help, they tell us, no we are ok, but when we asked them, they said, yeah that would be awesome. So we brought everything into their home and then they expected us to sit down and share a lesson with them. It was so crazy!!! So we started talking about our Heavenly Father and the spirit entered into the room. The mom was telling us about her life, and she has been through so many trials, and she said that she hasn't been closer to her savior until now. It was incredible. They are a family of 4! They are super prepared!! We are seeing them today and we are so excited to watch the gospel impact their lives!!!

I also had the chance to listen to a talk this morning by Henry B Eyring called Continuing Revelation. It talks a lot about the revelation that God gives to each and everyone of us. I really liked the example he gave, he said, " You know the words: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded. When Lehi heard Nephi speak those words, the scripture says that he was exceedingly glad. He was glad because he knew that Nephi had been blessed with confirming revelation that his father's dream was a true communication from God. Nephi did not say, I will go and do what my father told me to do. Rather he said, I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded." I know that the Lord gives his Prophets, Apostles, Stake Presidents, Mission Presidents, Bishops, Fathers, Mothers, revelation to watch over their stewardship. The Lord loves each and every one of us, and gives us our trials, hardships, joyful moments, in between moments, for a reason. I know that we receive modern day revelation. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today. He leads and guides! I'm grateful for all the blessings I have received. I cannot express my love that I have for the savior. He has blessed my life, and continues to bless it now!

I love you all so much! Have a great week and keep on keeping on!!!

Week 50: Well, I'm Still In The Woodlands!

Dear family and Friends!

This week was amazing! We worked super hard and we are beginning to see the fruits of our labors. We found a few solid families that we are excited to teach. We taught them the restoration and they all loved it. They were powerful lessons. My new companions name is Elder Barrus. He is a great missionary. He just finished his training so you could say that I am greenie breaking him. It has been fun, but it's been so much different. But I can definitely say that I'm grateful for the trust that the Lord has in letting me impact Elder Barrus' mission
experience!

So it has been a great week, and I have learned so much this week. I can see the Lord helping our area progress every day!

I love missionary work! The blessings are incredible! I love my savior Jesus Christ! He blesses me each and every day!

I love you all!

Week 49: Worship Wednesday

Hello, Hello! So transfer news is here and it looks like I am staying in the Lands of Wood. Elder Phister is leaving. I'm really going to miss him. We have worked hard together and have had a ton of fun! He's a great missionary and has helped me out a ton! But I'm really excited for this next transfer. We are now working with a couple of really good families that are showing a ton of progression. We have a lot of great plans to help get this area back on track! I find out who my new companion is tonight, whoever it is, we are going to bless so many people's lives. So this week was awesome. We got the chance to go to the temple on Wednesday, hence the Worship Wednesday (just like back home)!! But I'll get into the happenings of the temple a bit later. This week I have really felt the spirit bless others this week. We have been working hard and our efforts are beginning to pay off. I'm really excited to tell yall what went down this week!

Tuesday: Elder Blackford and I got to go on a exchange (he is basically like my 2nd companion). We had a lot of fun. We had the chance to go do service at Special Angels, our Special needs facility. We went and played basketball (we rebound, and encourage) with them and it was a lot of fun. I was shooting with this guy named Aaron and he is so cute, and he actually is really good at shooting. We played for about 1 hour and a half and he hit at least 10 3's which is really good! Aaron and I were getting so excited! I love working with the Lord's chosen children. Later we went to dinner and we ate at a members house, and it was so good. I don't know what Hispanics do to make food that much better, but man the food was so good! We also saw Carlos and Janet Lux, we have been having a hard time seeing them right now. We love them to death and we are going to do whatever it takes to help them come into the fold of God!

Wednesday: So yeah, we went to the Temple and it was really amazing. As I went I was looking for all the symbolism in the temple that is related to the Plan of Salvation, and their is so much!! It is so incredible. I was able to do baptisms for the dead, confirmations, initiatories, and the Endownment session for Ursula Shwiezer (he is a guy). I felt his presence so strongly as I was there. I'm so excited to give him a hug one day on the other side!!! So that was an amazing blessing. Then after the temple it started raining and it just came down. Buckets of water were just dumping, and all the streets were flooding. We got stuck in traffic for 2 hours. We had to cancel all of our appointments but it was still an amazing day.

Thursday: Guess what, I went on another exchange with Elder Blackford. We taught one of the most powerful lessons I have taught in my mission. We are teaching the Hernandez family. There are 4 total, and we taught them the end of the Restoration. But first we asked them what they remembered, and the first thing they said was how Jesus Christ got baptized by a prophet who had keys, but now the keys have been taken from the Earth and we can't be baptized like Jesus was! They understood so well. They also told us everything that we taught them from last week. Well as we began teaching them, the spirit began to grow stronger and stronger and peaked at the first vision. As I quoted the first vision, the spirit illuminated. Mayela (the mom) was tearing up, and Gerardo jr. (the son) said he felt so much peace. We taught about the BOM and they said they were going to read. We also asked them if they would be baptized by someone who has the keys and power of God and they said, yeah of course!! So we are so excited for them!

Friday: We had Zone Meeting and it was great! We learned a lot about showing our faith in setting baptismal dates. Our zone has been struggling with baptisms recently and we had so many great teachings on how better our abilities while preparing to set a fecha. I learned a lot and am excited to set a few dates in the upcoming weeks!

Saturday: We taught a new family that we are working with who have a lot of potential. We also went and taught the Hernandez family again and taught them about the BOM. As we were going over it they literally remembered everything that Elder Blackford and I taught them. Like we would asked them, so what is the BOM and immediately Gerardo Jr. said, es semejante a la biblia, we were like yeah, and do you remember where it was written, and immediately again el dijo; en las americas. That is how it went the whole time. We also read with them in 1st Nephi chapter 1 and they understand the BOM so well.

Sunday: We didn't have too much go on, but I love every week how I am able to renew my salvation with my Heavenly Father. I know that through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we can all return to live with our Heavenly Father and live there with our families!!!

I love this gospel so much!! I love my Savior!!! I love the Book of Mormon! I love the spirit!!! It leads and guides me every day!!! I love Hispanics and for the love that they have for everyone (most of them)!! I am so grateful to be serving a mission and am thankful for all of you who are serving right now! Keep up the hard work! You will see miracles in your lives as you keep your eyes on the Savior.

I love you all so much! Thank you all for all the birthday wishes. It meant so much!!! Thanks!!!
Have a great week!

Happy Birthday Taylor! Post From MOM :)

Happy 19th Birthday to my Taylor!! He was born on June 1, 1997, weighing 7 pound, 2 ounces, and 21 inches long (ironically, my smallest baby). It was a Sunday. The Utah Jazz and the Chicago Bulls were in the NBA playoffs together and it was game 6. I went to the hospital around 8 pm because something didn't seem right. As they began monitoring, they noticed that the the baby's heart rate kept dropping dangerously low, so they admitted me for an emergency c-section. During surgery the doctor found the cause of baby Taylor's stress; he was being strangled by the umbilical cord. The doctor said if we had not gone in that day, he would have suffered from severe brain damage or even death. He was born a healthy baby boy at 10:03 pm just as the Chicago Bulls scored their winning shot and won the NBA finals. The final score was Jazz: 82, Bulls: 84. Taylor was named Taylor "Jordan" Heiner after Michael Jordan who had held the MVP title 5 times and scored 41 points on the day he was born. I have always been so proud of my MVP, Taylor Jordan Heiner. He loves life and has so much compassion because he knows what it's like to endure hard trials and pain. He is a fearless missionary and loves to teach others about Jesus Christ and the joy and happiness we feel when we come unto Christ. Happy 19th Birthday Elder Taylor Heiner!! I wish I was there to give you 19 hugs! xoxo, N3, MC, HB, MOM :)
