Week 73: Memories!

Houston 3 is definitely the best area ever!

Good morning family and friends! This week was amazing! We were stuffed with food and the spirit! It was amazing! So first things first, we are back into a trio! Elder Fong came back to H3, and my new companion is Elder Pigott, he is originally from Columbia, but moved to Hawaii when he was 8, so he is a Hawaiian Hispanic! It's been great! We have been rocking it! Elder Pigott only has a couple transfers left in his mission so we've been making every second count! So this week we definitely had some great highlights, and I'm excited to tell y'all all the memories we made!

↑ Photo 1: I had to say goodbye to an amazing sister, Sister Soto. She's the one that Kyle Whimpey baptized in California! So we snagged a photo of the Woodlands crew before she left!

↑ Photo 2: On Thursday we did the turkey bowl and we woke up at 5:30 in the morning to go play! Here is Elder Pigott and I right out of bed!

↑ Photo 3: After the turkey bowl we took a picture with everyone! I was so tired afterwards, but it was a lot of fun!

↕ Photo 4 And 5: Go together! We ate thanksgiving at the Flores house first, and they had an amazing back yard! This was a bunch of bananas from their banana tree! And then this was the family! Then we went and had two more meals that night, so we were stuffed.

↑ Photo 6: This is the new district! For District Meeting I centered the message on the new Christmas video and we talked about how we can light the world! We talked a lot about how we can share this video with people, and it was a really inspiring meeting! I invite y'all to watch it! In Spanish it's called ilumina el mundo! And I'm so excited to go out and light the world! (Mormon.org)

↑ Photo 8: This is at the Robles house! He is our ward mission leader, and his nephews are becoming interested in the gospel! Their names are Steven and David! Steven is 14 and David is 9! They have both expressed their desires to be baptized and we set two dates with them on December 10th! That's now 4 baptisms that we are going  to be having in December! It's going to be absolutely incredible! It is definitely going to be a white Christmas!

↑ Photo 9: Yesterday we had a charla fogenero (fireside). It was for the youth in our ward, and it was super powerful! Our mission leader set it up and the goal for the charla was to inspire the youth to go on a mission! So all the missionaries in our ward shared their experiences in preparing for a mission! The spirit was powerful, as each missionary shared how they were able to make the decision to serve!

Oh how grateful I am to serve a mission! There is no greater joy than helping people in their lives come closer to their Savior! I also invite y'all to work hard on giving yourselves to our Heavenly Father, and going out and serving your fellowmen! I love this work! The church of Jesus Christ is true! I know our Savior atoned for our sins because of the infinite love that He has for every single one of us (2 Nephi 26:23-24)! I love you all! Make it a great week!

Week 72: I'm stealing my Companions Weekly Email 😎

I had a baptism in Sealy! It was incredible! Maria got baptized and it was amazing!

I didn't have enough time to write a weekly so I snagged Elder Fitt's email, so this is our week in his words! Haha! Also transfers are here and I'm staying and Elder Fitt is out! I find out who my new comp is tonight! It's going to be amazing, but sad! So here it is!

"Monday: We had a typical P-day. Then afterward we had FHE and had three of our investigators show up. The two baptismal dates that we have are looking very good for the 17 of December.

Tuesday: Today we had Zone Conference and it was so amazing!! We talked about why we have the commandments and how they are just our direction to return safely back to our Heavenly Father. Then we had all of our lessons fall through that night and so we just went out knocking until the end of the night.

Wednesday: We woke up early and hit the road to a service project. The project was called "Project smiles". We helped 2nd graders learn about how to floss and brush their teeth. So that took up all the morning and most of the afternoon. Then after the service project, we decided to go on an "emergency exchange". So I went to H5 for the rest of the day. We had 2 lessons with the people they have on date right now and they were just super powerful and awesome. Then to end the night, we went to a families house and taught them Matthew 14 and talked about the storms in our lives. It was the most powerful lesson I have ever taught in my entire mission! When we read in the scriptures about a burning sensation in our chest when we feel the spirit, That was exactly what I felt. The Spirit was able to use me to say what he needed to say and then after I was done speaking, the power and the warmth in which I had felt went away. I know that it was the Spirit that was in that lesson and that it was able to use me to speak on his behalf.

Thursday: Well back to project smiles! :D

Friday: We had an amazing district meeting and I was able to give the spiritual thought. Then afterward, we went finding for hours. We found two new investigators that are so awesome. One of them was just outside hanging up her Christmas decorations and one thing led to another and we were outside teaching the Restoration. Then we had this huge ward party for Thanksgiving!

Saturday: Road Trip!! We went to the English wards party for lunch! Then we went and did some finding. Then after that we went to a baptism in Sealy. So that was a good hour drive. So while Elder Heiner drove, I took the LDS tools out and invited everyone in our ward to church.

Sunday: Church was just super good! Then after church we went over to the Robles house for dinner with their family and then afterward they let us use their house to teach one of our investigators. Then we had transfer calls. Looks like I am the only one out from the District. So farewell to H3..."

Back to me again! Here are some pictures from this last week!

Week 71: 7 Months Of Consecration

Mission Presidents Fireside!

Wow what another inspiring week! We have truly been blessed here in Houston! I absolutely loved this week and felt the love of my Heavenly Father! I feel that I have been changing into the person my Heavenly Father needs me to be! This week I really focused on being a more consecrated missionary, based from the talk Consecrated Missionary by Tad R Callister (great talk, if you haven't read it. I invite y'all to look at it)! I know I only have 7 months left, so I made a plan to do 7 Months to consecration! I have already felt so much change and love! Ahhh, I just love the mission so much!!!

So with this week we had a lot of random amazing things happen! Some of
these amazing things were an amazing service! The temple! Spanish Leadership Council! And a mission presidents fireside! Plus we set two
baptismal dates with the two most prepared people in Houston! So where do I begin!

I'll start here on last Monday! We received a couple referrals from one of my favorite families in the mission, the Castillos! Their friend’s names are Hugo and Areli and they are amazing! Apparently I taught Hugo once when I was here a year ago, but back then he definitely wasn't as ready for the gospel to change his life! So we taught an amazing restoration lesson with them, like literally spiritually mind blowing! They understood so well, and when we introduced the BOM they just lit up even more! When we extended the date, Hermana Castillo told us that they can't be baptized because they’re not married, but then Areli says, "Don’t worry I already got the ring". Hugo and Areli just got engaged, and we are planning on having their baptism and wedding on the same day, December 17th!! Plus yesterday they went to church and had read 6 chapters in the BOM! They are on fire! Plus there are so many members reaching out and helping them out! The Lord is truly blessing!

On Tuesday we had an amazing service opportunity where we got to help out kids who were in 2nd grade learn more about the dentist and prepare to get their teeth checked! A lot of the missionaries got to teach but my job was to pump all the kids up before they got their teeth checked! It was soooo fun! I saw one of the kids crying as he got his teeth checked, and I was like oh no, that's not happening again! So I helped them understand that that field trip is the best field trip ever! None of them were afraid after they got done talking to me! It was awesome! Kids are great and so funny and random! We got on the most random stories haha! Like, we went from talking about Halloween and then how one kid has the cutest dog in the world haha! I just laughed so hard!

Then on Thursday we got to go to the temple as a district! I just love the temple sooo soooo much! Such a spiritually uplifting experience! It really humbled me literally! I was in the celestial room and I just pulled open the scriptures and I opened up to Alma 5:27! Slap to the face! I guess I need to work harder on being more humble! Humility really does bring blessings! But the temple was truly an amazing experience!

Then on Friday we had Spanish Leadership Council! That's a meeting where all the leaders in Spanish get together to learn how to better the obra misional! It was a great meeting and I learned a lot! Also in District Meeting I centered my topic on the atonement! Whoa it was amazing! Such a spiritual meeting! The atonement is my favorite topic and is just oh so powerful! It was such a powerful one, the spirit really took over!

We've had plenty of amazing moments! Then on Sunday we had an amazing mission president’s fireside! That's a one in a 4 month experience it was so powerful! Well this week was incredible! Make sure y'all have
a great one as well! Remember our savior and all he did for us! Love y'all!

Week 70: The Power Of Prayer!

Back: Elder Stulce, Front L-R: Elder Fitt, Elder Heiner, Elder Fong

Hey y'all this week was all about sifting, finding, and listing to the promptings of the spirit! We had so many people that we invited to come closer to Jesus Christ from last week, so we worked hard to find which ones would follow the savior's command of repenting and being baptized. We found that many of them had a hard time acting, based on their living conditions. So we helped many of them understand the importance of the restored gospel, and gave them the chance to talk to missionaries when they are ready to act! So that meant that this week we worked extremely hard at finding those willing to act, and it all started on Monday (Halloween)!

We had to start off on a good note on Monday! Last Monday, since it was Halloween we had to be back in our apartments by 7 pm, so we had a solid 1 hour to go contacting and find those prepared! We prayerfully searched for those who were ready and at 6:55 pm we found our man! We just asked Heavenly Father to lead us to someone we could invite to come unto Jesus Christ and the last door we went up to they invited us to come back! So we were feeling pumped and ready to do work from the start!

Heavenly Father continued to bless us this week as he put people into our paths! On Tuesday we were in an area that we thought didn't have very many Hispanics, but we specifically prayed to lead us to the place we needed to go! The first guy we talked to wasn't very interested, but gave us the direction of where to go, we then followed that direction and found a community of Hispanics! And many of them let us come back!

On Friday we had such an inspiring day! We had Zone Meeting, and we were taught all about unity and diligence! Each companionship has the goal to baptize 2 people by the end of this year and we all strapped on the seat belts and committed ourselves to accomplishing that goal! We are doing whatever it takes to accomplish it! We also were taught how to better apply the Book of Mormon and the stories to our investigators! It was inspiring and I know we all were left very edified! Later that day, we had a couple lessons fall through, and we were scrambling to know what to do. I then received a prompting to call a potential investigator we found earlier in the week, and visit her! She answered and said "that would be alright!" So we went down to her house and gave an amazing Restoration lesson with her! She had so many questions, and loved knowing that the priesthood power is again on the earth! She is so solid and we have high hopes for her in the future!

Sunday was a great way to end the week! We had a few investigators come to church, and they loved it! After church we also had an amazing lesson with one of our investigators in the home of our Ward Mission Leader! His family, fed our investigator and us dinner, and then we gave a powerful Plan of Salvation lesson! We invited her to be baptized and she said she needed to pray about it first! But don't worry, prayer is powerful and she will baptized before you know it! We also went on splits last night, and Elder Fong and one of our priests in our ward, went knocking and found a guy named Israel, and taught the whole restoration, and set a baptismal date with him for Dec 17!!! Pretty incredible! Elder Fitt and I had a couple lessons fall through so we went contacting! It was a little bit too late to go to people's houses, so we did my favorite type of contacting, talking to people in the parking lot at the store Fiesta! We talked to some interesting people, but one of the guys we talked to was from Mexico and he told us that a few of his friends were Mormon and he's always wanted to learn more about our religion! So we are going back to see him this week! I'm so excited!!

So it was another successful week, all because we prayed and listened to the spirit to lead and guide us! It was incredible as we put our shoulder to the wheel and worked together! I love this work! It truly is amazing! I also love my Savior Jesus Christ! I got to study a lot on the atonement this week in my personal studies, and it truly is incredible the love and compassion that our savior showed to the world, but mainly to you and to me! I love Him so much! I'm glad I get the chance to do this work with Him! I love you all! I hope y'all have a fantastic day week!

Love, Elder Heiner
